Common Name: Jatoba
Scientific Name: Hymenaea Stilhocarga Hayne
Family: Caesalpiniaceae

General Characteristics:
A very heavy wood and very hard to cut; core color varying from chestnut-light-pinkish to chestnut-re, with a more or less intense tonality; thick alburnum, noticeable differentiated white lightly yellowish; uniform medium texture; grain from regular to irregular; surface somewhat shiny and lightly rough; smell unnoticeable.

Main Uses:
Jatoba wood, because it is very heavy and with high mechanical properties, can be used for internal finishing, like beam rafters, laths, door frames, parquet and floor boards, decks, sport shelters, tool handles and agricultural machinery, outdoor consruction such as railway sleepers and U-joints, sashes, decorative veneers, furniture, truck bodies, wagons, etc.
